Yo-Yo Ma & Friends

Yo-Yo Ma and Friends
March 1, 2008 (Sat)
8pm

Yo-Yo Ma is arguably today's most recognized classical musician, and the Vail Series is honored to present "the world's favorite cellist" for the  fifth time since his first appearance at Denison in 1985. A great fan of ensemble playing, Mr. Ma is joined on this occasion by a gallery of esteemed colleagues.

Perhaps the only thing more remarkable than the splendor of her performance is seeing this extraordinary 20 year old pianist having fun with some of the most challenging music written for the instrument. Few players in the world can even play these works, much less with such abandon and sheer delight.

About Vail Series: The Vail Series has become a Denison University tradition. For the past 28 years, students, as well as the greater community, have benefited from the opportunity to experience, up close and free of charge, the performances of many of the world’s best-known musicians. The Vail Series is made possible through the vision and generosity of the Vail family, whose remarkable endowment continues to provide intimate access to extraordinary artistic events. Through this "collaboration of high ideals and magnificent good fortune," Denison's Vail Series has become synonymous with quality and gained the respect of the international arts community.
